If you have a humidifier at home, how often do you clean it? When you get it out to use it, do you end up spending 15 minutes cleaning it first? Generally speaking, while your humidifier is in use, you should empty and refill the water tank daily. You should also use filtered water to keep mineral deposits at bay. And weekly, you should really give it a cleaning. Here’s how to clean your humidifier the right way.
1. The Filter
After unplugging your humidifier, take out the filter if you have one. Rinse the filter well in cool water, but don’t use cleaning products on it since they could actually do damage. After rinsing, set the filter on a clean towel and to let any excess water drain away.
